Solfest August 2011

Thank you Ian Douglas and Dave Camlin for booking us to perform at Solfest! We had a fantastic time and were so well received by all audiences.

After a mammoth packing session, loading tents, camping gear, supplies, instruments we set off on the journey to the north of Cumbria, only very nearly not getting there due to excess weight issues that the van just couldn’t cope with.

We did get up the big hill, however, but the next obstacle was driving over the muddy field to find a camping pitch. Again we became stuck only this time everyone jumped out of the van to lessen the weight and upon lowering the revs, we managed to drive over grass, park up, set up camp, unload and rig instruments, change into costume then straight to our first performance.

Performance 1 was one that began with no audience, however, attracted hundreds of people. We all had such a great night performing, so much so that James broke his skin (on the drum). Oh no, this meant he might be able to perform the following day.

The next morning, was spent looking for a drum-skin. No drum-skins on site and suddenly it was looking like James may not get to perform, only we were rescued by Blue Jam who still had their drums on site and very kindly lent us one of theirs.

After much fettling by James and Faye, the band was ready to perform again. 

Upon walking on the site, we found our performance spot and again attracted huge crowds with our rhythms, choreography and obvious fun that we exude.

All in all we did 3 performances and with each one, attracted more and more people.  We all had a blast and thoroughly enjoyed every single moment of Solfest.  Please book us for next year!
